Today at Target - the AGING struggle
So, I have been feeling like now that I have plenty of time in my day to focus on smaller ticket items, I have been spending more time trying to be the best wife (among other things) that I can be. I decide that being a great wife includes (among other things) looking my best as often a possible. I have been bathing regularly - no judgment...I have 2 small kids. I have been getting my nails done, wearing his favorite styles, and being more playful and accommodating in the bedroom.
Needless to say, I am exhausted! Maintaining good eating habits, cleanliness, and attentive bedroom behavior is a job all its own! I started to wonder what is "in it for me?"
Well, I found out the answer this morning at Target from the woman in line behind me.
As I was making a lame joke to the cashier about buying kitty litter I noticed her. She was graying- but not a lot...in a subtle and beautiful way, her skin looked soft and was almost devoid of wrinkles - although I knew she was older. Her smile was bright white. She was a freakin' Cindy Joseph look alike.
I said to her "you are stunning". She replied that "meant a lot at her age". I said well, I have long way to 50, but I hope I look as good as you do when I get there". Then she proceeded to SHOCK me. She said "my sweet young thing, I am 77 years old."
W.T.F??? Mind=blown. I must have looked like a total asshole. Mouth agape, eyes wide. I asked her what her "Secret to youthfulness is?"...she replied, "Olay Regenerist and being happily married". I went back and got the Olay Regenerist IMMEDIATELY, but got to thinking, perhaps THAT is why is "in it for me", a long stress free life with a happy man that I love to the moon. SO, I think it is safe to say I am hitting my Target thanks to my trip to the mothership....Target.
If nothing else I now have a solid skin care regimen.
