Time to "break the wheel" on body image"?

I saw this post on Facebook tonight and could not support the point more fervently.

I have been confused as to my "true size" for a long time. It is worse now that I am losing weight. In some brands I am a 4, some a 6 - and even further still sometimes a size medium and other times a small?!

I do want to point out that I do not believe obesity is healthy or attractive for anyone of any age and firmly believe in caring for the bodies we have - as long as our weight, cholesterol, and overall BMI are in healthy ranges "size" matters little.

I am not truly a supporter of "big is beautiful" or that obesity should be celebrated on the covers of magazines - in the same way I am not a fan of anorexia or scary skinny being the ideal look.

I also got to thinking about this problem as I get set to buy gifts for the women and girls in my life - I NEVER think to buy clothing, only accessories at the very most as related to "clothing". It dawns on me now that the reason for my aversion is two fold. First, I fear insulting the person by selecting a size that is too big - even though I may know they don't wear (or simply won't fit) a smaller size. Secondly, I worry that they may think I am backhandedly making a statement about their "style" (i.e. that is it bad) if I get them something I think they would look good in, rather than someone thing that might be their preferred aesthetic.

Thoughts??
