The struggle to travel...or lead the house at all

People travel for several reasons - to see family, to visit a new place for leisure, for work (business/relocation), for honeymoons, etc. As it is the holidays, I got thinking about my own travels...and recently, my lack thereof.

My husband and I did not go on a honeymoon. The last time we traveled was 3 years ago to see his family in Seattle for a few days at Christmas. We have never traveled together before or after that. We haven't even traveled the 20 minutes into the city for a date night since 2013....going on 4 years now. It does not bother me that we haven't traveled out of state, but no dates is hard. He works 80 hours at the hospital on a regular basis and we have never tried to find a sitter we both like and trust, so we either just go out with our kids, or drink a beer before bed as a date.

Although it isn't quite time for making resolutions, I think I have a good one this year. You guessed it, to "travel" with my husband - just the two of us. Maybe for a day trip, or a weekend, or even a just an evening in the city! although our relationship is great (ok, 90% great), there is room to improve and people keep telling me that alone time is key....so I will try to put my "money where my mouth is".

It is important to keep perspective, life doesn't live itself!

Here is hoping for everyones safe travels this season....enjoy it!
